US carriers charge a daily fee for using your plan abroad. A prepaid travel eSIM is paid once for the whole trip.
| Carrier day pass | Published price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Verizon TravelPass | US$12 per day in most destinations, US$6 per day in Mexico and Canada (high-speed data for the first 5 GB a day) | verizon.com |
| AT&T International Day Pass | US$12 per day (US$6 per extra line used the same day), at most 10 daily fees per line per bill period | att.com |

How much data might you need?
Move the sliders for a rough planning figure. It is arithmetic based on typical use, not a measurement or a guarantee — check your phone’s own data history too.
Will it work on your phone?
A phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Check the exact model and sales region before buying because the same phone name can have different eSIM support.
- 01
Look for an EID
Dial *#06# or check About in your phone settings. An EID is a strong sign that the device supports eSIM.
- 02
Confirm the exact model
Check the model number and country of purchase, not only the marketing name.
- 03
Confirm it is unlocked
A carrier-locked phone may reject a travel eSIM even when the hardware supports it.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers for choosing, installing and using your Telroo travel eSIM. Need device-specific troubleshooting steps? Read the troubleshooting guide or contact support.
Will an eSIM work with my phone?
Check these three things before you buy:
- Find your exact phone model and the country or region where it was sold.
- Open Settings and look for Add eSIM, or dial *#06# and check whether an EID is shown.
- Confirm that the phone is carrier-unlocked, then compare the exact model with our compatibility list. Ask your carrier if you are unsure about unlocking.
How do I choose the right plan?
Compare the plan with your trip before checking out:
- Search for your destination and open the plan you are considering.
- Check that every country on your route is covered, then compare the data allowance and validity with your trip dates.
- Choose fixed data if you know how much you need, or a daily data plan if you want its high-speed allowance to reset each day. Check the product page for plan-specific rules.
Can I keep using my US number?
Usually, yes. Keep your US line for calls and texts and use the Telroo eSIM for data:
- Leave your US SIM or eSIM switched on if you need its number for calls or texts.
- In Settings, choose the Telroo eSIM for Cellular Data. On iPhone, look under Settings › Cellular; on Samsung, look under Settings › Connections › SIM manager.
- Turn on data roaming for the Telroo eSIM if its plan instructions require it. Turn off data roaming on your US line, or check your carrier's day-pass charges before using it abroad.
Does a travel eSIM include calls and SMS?
Most Telroo plans provide mobile data only. Check the product page to confirm what your plan includes:
- Look for calls, SMS or a phone number in the plan details. If they are not listed, assume the plan is data-only.
- Use WhatsApp, FaceTime, Messenger and other internet apps over the eSIM's data connection.
- For ordinary calls or SMS, keep your US line active and check your carrier's international charges.
Can I request a refund if I have not installed my eSIM?
Yes. You can request a change-of-mind refund for an eSIM that has not been installed; there is no 7-day request window:
- Open your order page. If prompted, sign in with the email address used at checkout.
- Submit a support request and choose “Refund request - eSIM not installed”.
- Approved refunds are made in US dollars to the original payment method, less the Stripe processing fee on the original payment, which is charged by Stripe, not Telroo.
When will my eSIM arrive?
Your eSIM is sent by email after payment and supplier processing:
- Check the inbox for the email address you entered at checkout.
- If it is not there, check your junk or spam folder.
- Open the order link in the email to see your order and eSIM details.
When should I install my eSIM, and when does validity start?
Your plan's validity starts when you first use it in a covered destination, not when you install it. Install on Wi-Fi before you fly.
- Read the installation instructions for your selected plan.
- Connect to reliable Wi-Fi and add the eSIM to the phone you will use on your trip.
- When you arrive in a covered destination, select the Telroo eSIM for mobile data and follow its instructions to connect.
Can I reinstall an eSIM if I delete it?
No. Each Telroo eSIM can only be installed once and cannot be restored after deletion:
- Keep the eSIM on the phone where you first installed it; do not delete it to troubleshoot a connection problem.
- If setup or activation is not working, open your order page and contact support before removing the eSIM.
How can I check how much data I have left?
Check your eSIM's status from your order page:
- Open the order link from your email, or sign in to your Telroo account with the email you used at checkout.
- Find the eSIM in your order and tap Check status. Tap Refresh status when you want to check again.
- Read the remaining data and expiry shown. Network usage can take 2–3 hours to update.
What should I do if my eSIM does not connect?
Try these checks in order. Menu names vary by phone model and software version:
- Open Settings and make sure the Telroo eSIM line is on and selected for Cellular Data.
- Turn on Data Roaming for the Telroo eSIM and wait a few minutes. Leave roaming off on your US line if you want to avoid its day-pass charges.
- If there is no signal, restart your phone. If there is signal but no data, find Network Selection for the eSIM and leave it on automatic.
- Only change APN settings if your plan instructions give you an APN. If it still does not connect, contact support from your order page; do not delete the eSIM because it can only be installed once.
Can I top up my eSIM?
Top up eligible plans from your order page, subject to eligibility:
- Open your order page and find the eSIM you want to top up.
- Choose Top up this eSIM to check compatible options and the current price before payment.
- For eligible Daily plans, top-ups extend the number of days; they do not increase the daily high-speed allowance or remove today’s speed reduction. Keep your existing eSIM installed.
