How to activate a travel eSIM on Samsung Galaxy
Use SIM Manager to add the eSIM, label the new line and select it for mobile data when the plan instructions tell you to connect.
On a compatible, unlocked Samsung Galaxy phone, use SIM Manager to add the supplied plan, then select it for mobile data after arrival. eSIM support and menu wording vary by model, sales region and One UI version.
Before installation
- Confirm the exact Galaxy model and sales region support eSIM.
- Open Settings > About phone > Status information and look for an EID, or check SIM Manager for an Add eSIM option.
- Confirm the phone is network-unlocked.
- Connect to Wi-Fi and open the QR code on another screen.
Add the eSIM
- Open Settings > Connections > SIM Manager.
- Tap Add eSIM or Add mobile plan.
- Choose the option to scan a QR code.
- Scan the supplied code and follow the prompts.
- Label the line with the destination name.
Connect after landing
- Return to SIM Manager and enable the travel eSIM.
- Select the travel eSIM as the preferred SIM for mobile data.
- Enable data roaming on the travel eSIM only when the selected plan requires it.
- Disable data switching if you do not want the phone to fall back to your Australian SIM.
If it does not connect
Toggle Flight Mode, restart the phone and confirm the data line. Check the product instructions for APN and manual network selection. Do not remove the eSIM unless support confirms the QR code can be reused.
